Arriving just in time, right before the start of the 2014 European flying season, I took delivery of my new wing: the RX3.5 Technora® – from Moyes Delta Gliders. This glider is not just rigged with cutting edge, newly inlaid cloth, it is also my first RX!

350 km declared out-and-return WORLD RECORD: 365 km total & personal best!
We made it! Not to express in words how it feels having finally reached the big goal! But even more important to see that the whole project 'Record Weeks Chile' worked out fine. From the idea to realization and finally coming to the result - the record - it was a lot of risk taking: will it be possible!? Beside the fact Tom was going to explore maiden XC flights nobody has ever done before flying out-and-return at the chilean cordillera coast going for the record. A new challenge in combination with a big project without knowing how this odyssey is going to end – a real adventure!

Gliding over open water

It all got together at the very last thermal! The scheduled task I have been flirting since years was to cross the whole island from east to west. A very challenging but especially beautiful XC flight over the whole volcanic island of Lanzarote. Highlights like the crater of Monte Corona, the windmills of Mala, the sandy desert of El Jable or the badlands of La Geria were also the tricky parts to get over.
